Holy Land Dance is a mother-daughter dance troupe in Northern Virginia dedicated to cultural understanding through dance. We have great respect and interest in the cultures and religions that have connections to the Holy Land and the Middle East, and are honored to have met and learned from some of the many dancers from these regions.
Miriam has been studying Middle Eastern Dance since 2002. What began as a desire to find a fun way to stay fit has evolved into a passion for learning about folk dances of all cultures. She believes that two things can tell you the most about any culture without ever a word being spoken: their food and their dances!
As she advanced in her studies of Egyptian dance, Miriam realized the style made her feel more connected to the world of the Old Testament, and that ignited her interest in studying other Middle Eastern dances. These studies in turn have given her a greater understanding and appreciation for Middle Eastern cultures and has given her scripture study more depth and meaning, and she now dedicates her dance to our Creator. Her stage name honors Miriam, Moses’ sister, who is the first dancer and prophetess recorded in the bible.
